"The ability to think is gods gift to you: what you think about is your gift to yourself"
This is one of those insidious little maxims that makes its user sound so damn clever. And actually it is a very clever formulation in its way, but for all the wrong reasons. It closes down more lines of reflection than it opens, while all the while sounding authoritative and logical. On examination it is imo total bollox.
Nevertheless, a premie classic: to be parroted in moments of rising intellectual panic, deseigned to undercut all further discussion on human cognition. I used it to great effect among the unwashed on several occasions.
Rawat colluded with me to lie. The promise broken was between me and language.
