Here's an example of premie thinking as Josef, a premie rationalizes a real situation where Maharaji was driving a car in India and he hit and killed a bicyclist who may veered into the roadway. Maharaji, switched cars and let an ashram "houseboy" take the rap.

Where's the SAT in SatChitAnand, brothers and sisters?

Josef ji Takes the Rap

You know, you can go deeper into this thing if you want. Let me tell you what would really happen if, say, I were lucky enough to be Maharaji's house boy in this situation.

I'd volunteer to take the fall. And that house boy was probably a lot more devoted than I'll ever be. Let's face facts, I'm a lazy bum that likes his wine, women and song. But if it was me, I'd volunteer. Because I can imagine this scenario. You see, Maharaji knows he is not going to be convicted of anything. He has known from the beginning. So he phones the ashram in Delhi, and it goes like this:

Maharaji: "How's Josef ji doing?"

Sampuranand: "Oh, he's OK, Maharaji. He doesn't want you to interrupt your work to go to trial. He's happy to do this for you. He did ask if you would give him your blessing."

Maharaji, "He's got it".

That evening, Mahatma ji tells Josef ji that Maharaji gave him his blessing. Josef ji canít speak. He has lived his whole life for this moment. He canít speak. He dissolves into tears. He canít stop crying. He was born on a dirt farm, and now he gets to take the rap for Maharaji, and he has his personal blessings.

Now, I know a lot of you are starting to gag about now. But hold on, there's more.

Early next morning, the Indian tom toms start going at it, and by noon, every premie household in India knows that Josef ji is taking the rap for Maharaji. You see, they all know that it was not Maharaji's fault that the cyclist was killed. Dozens, perhaps hundreds of them were eye witnesses. They know. And Josef ji's name will be on the lips of every premie in India.

And he will be on their lips until the trial date, and if, by any good fortune, he is convicted, and serves even one day of jail time, then as long as Josef ji lives, if he ever comes to a village where there are premies, they will fight to serve him. They will give him the best of everything they have. They will touch his feet.

Now, let's come back to reality. None of this happened. But it could have happened. You know it could have. In fact, you know it would have. Whether or not Maharaji is a fake, you know it would have. There are many, many people, including me, who would gladly have taken the rap for Maharaji so that his work would not be interrupted. Deluded or not.

So, I contend that there was absolutely no doubt in Maharaji's mind, when he pulled the switch in the cavalcade, that no-one was going to get hurt as a result. The house boy, I mean Josef ji, if he really had to take the fall, is grateful for the rest of his life. He'll never go anywhere but the premies will beg him to tell them the story of when he took the rap for their Guru Maharaji. Mothers will name their children after him. They will tell their children to be brave like Josef ji. They will beg Josef ji to father their next child. No, wait, thatís another fantasy.

But enough of that. I've got to get some darshan. Thank God Amaroo is coming up.

JHB, I think you know what I say is true. The bicycle thing is a frivolous charge. There are no victims. Except the bicyclist, and he was a victim of his own carelessness.† And Maharaji knew no-one was going to get hurt as a result of the switch from the very beginning. The bicycle story has no bearing on Maharajiís integrity, whatsoever. If you are an honest man, and I think you have an honest heart, I respectfully request that you drop it from this site.
