In my post I took the liberty of lumping separate events together as one because they were related and occurred in close proximity to one another. The mistake I made was that one of the events occurred... eight or nine years later! I wish I could promise that it won't happen again.
• I still think it's accurate enough to lump the following three events together into one.
- The summer of 1976 ashram "loosening" during which the stringent ashram rules were relaxed to some degree.
- Bob Mishler's intervention in 1976 during which he tried to persuade Rawat to step down from his "divine being" pedestal. Rawat reacted negatively by saying "but how will I be supported?"
- Bob Mishler's attempt is widely regarded as a trigger for Rawat's sudden and dramatic reversal that I refer to as his "snap-back" (recoil?) at the Atlantic City event later in 1976. That event marked the beginning of what is colloquially known as the seven-year heavy devotion era.
• The 1978 Tucson Conference. Rawat held a conference for instructors, coordinators and others after the Tucson event during which he went off on an indescribable and prolonged anger-filled tyrade lasting throughout both the morning and afternoon sessions - shouting at times - decrying the attendees for their pathetic inability to surrender to him. Truly a pummeling.
• The San Ysidro Conference in 1984 or 1985 (my brain somehow latched onto '74 or '75!) arranged by Michael Dettmers upon sensing that Rawat's mood and introspection after marriage counselling provided an opening to bring in a much needed organizational consultant. Michael is quoted as saying that the consultant and his associate told Rawat that "if he didn't take to heart the enormous responsibility that comes with engendering such love and commitment, he could become very scary and dangerous... of all the groups he had facilitated, he had never experienced as much fear as was exhibited by our group."
Michael is also quoted as saying "the proverbial shit hit the fan... Maharaji freaked."
• The Amaroo Rebelion notable for Rawat reacting by cracking-down aggressively via his trusted henchmen. (Note that the format of the crack-down served as a basis or prototype for the Team Trainings that followed.)
• The mid-2000's Team Trainings I've described, most recently in my post above.
Shade in the above pentagon and you're left with an even larger gigantic blotch that overshadows the entire cult. Fortunatly my mistake didn't force me to alter my long answer to Prembio's simple question.
