I once posted a list of about twenty acronyms the cult used or was using... everything from PWKs to PEAK. The use of acronyms may have peaked around the time Prem Rawat appeared on the cover of "Leaders" magazine. Communities, much like the way Prem became a New York Times "dagger of death" best-selling author, purchased the magazines in bulk and displayed them prominently on information tables at local events.

The cult was so desperate to manufacture a perception of legitimacy and professionalism that it actually tried to emulate "corporate" culture, going so far as to peddle a bunch of Knowledge Information Trainings (the KIT trainings I mentioned above) to communities at least throughout the U.S. A (well trained, of course) premie would lead a weekend-long training on how to talk about Knowledge that included break-out sessions for premies to prepare and rehearse skits (fictional nonsense) on things like "how to talk about Knowledge around the water cooler."

That was a year or so before I left the cult. Apparently (among many other "drips" ), my double life of suit-and-tie corporate by day and premie by night stretched me to the breaking point, especially when the differences between the people I worked with and premies in my community became too stark to ignore. Again, it wasn't their fault: Prem never encouraged them to pursue education or make the kinds of commitments it took to thrive in the world of professional work... or even hold a long-term job for that matter. (To be fair, I was the apostate, often being ridiculed by premies for having my priorities screwed-up.)

I remember cringing because these people had no clue about real corporate culture and everyday life in that arena. A cult trying to emulate something they were never exposed to and inherently detested... It was clear that they were making stuff up based on what they saw on television.

There's your Intelligent Existence.

Thanks Gregg!
