I had a friend who used to insist it didn't matter who Rawat was, it was the role he fulfilled of Guru that created the experience - he grew up in Africa with witch doctors and equated the experience to that.

And I would argue back that it did matter - at the end of the day when it turns out that your prince of peace is a toad, the harvest is bleak.

So here you are feeling angry at being cheated and wanting revenge. and we can all say these are valid feelings and you are finally on the good side of the experience of falling for such a stupendous con.

The silver lining of coming out of the cult is you get yourself back and gain the knowledge this debunking of the cult experience brings.  You can't change the consequences being caught in that cult has had on you but you learn so much coming out of it that you could go a whole lifetime and not understand.

(oh the ironies )

Personally my view is the 'negative' emotions can be challenging to experience but can have pretty good results in the right hands.  It all depends on the person.

It's like, it goes way back, I remember walking to school with my mother and she was talking about how you have to be considerate of others and personally I just loved talking with my mum so it took a lot to get me to interrupt her but I finally said you should be telling that to my brother, not me.

All this religious stuff, you should be a good guy - you can say that til you're blue in the face but it's only the good guys who listen!  And they don't need to know that, no they need to be told it's okay to feel angry and to want revenge.  Naturally, however they feel they are not going to want to hurt others, they are not the loose cannons on the deck.

so I finally worked out the merits of revenge recently - I needed help with some landscaping and I got snowed.  I thought I was hiring a nice man who understood gardens and I thought we would work well together.  He knew nothing about gardening, he didn't like doing things like shovelling or shifting big rocks and he didn't listen to me.  It turned out all he focused on was lining up an income stream and keeping it going for as long as he could.

So eventually, when the point came that I was having to first undo rock work I had paid him to do and feeling a real chump, it was a genuine pleasure to use the mattock he had accidentally left behind - it's been very handy.
