All that stuff about the pointlessness of worldly things, relationships, worldly knowledge...it was all a joke, right?
We were never meant to take any of it seriously. Why, if we were to take M at his word, we'd wind up dedicating thirty years of our lives to him and be left with nothing. I mean, he's like, divine and so forth, but hey, we shouldn't believe everything he says, right?
Come to think of it, there must have been some point when he explained this and told us not to take him too seriously. When would that have been?

hi Neville,
I understand your question, having lived in the ashram for 10 yrs. At some point, I broke through this veil of not beling allowed to pursue success, health, education and basically it was point of letting go of fear. Alot of what we were fed came straight from India with the concepts of how to live and be unworldly. The more i hung in there, worked with m, the projects at the time, and challenged these concepts, the freerer I felt. I did not and still do not see a conflict in pursuing one's talents, dreams, aspirations, and motivations in the world --while at the same time focusing on a balanced, inner life. Both acclerate the more trust you have (in yourself). Appreciation grows when you find fulfillment and lack of struggle. So for me, it was not m telling someone directly not to go for it, but other people who were promoting their own concepts. Can not a person be successful and find inner peace in k at the same time?
