Gerry,
Unless they have changed it, I predict that only the most dysfunctional of new 'interested' people could even make it though the Intro to the Keys without running out the door to have a cigarette or somehow self-medicate. My most vivid memories watching it are of M shaking his finger at the screen (fingernails creepily long, but well manicured) as he uses a highly patronizing, measuredly loud voice saying, "Don't be curious! (that is even a bullet point on a screen shot of points), don't jump ahead, watch it in the order it is presented, don't watch more than 2 hours a day!!!! I stopped counting the number of times he said "don't." The Marketing Director part of my nature was cringing, knowing what a negative and patronizing dynamic he was setting up. I doubt that anyone who has not seen it can imagine how weirdly patronizing and controlling his voice was. He spoke this sentence (and many others) slowly, loudly and with pauses between each word as he did the finger pointing in your face thing:
"Don't....be....curious...watch...the...videos...in...the...order...they...appear...
effectively screening out all but the most co-dependent-looking-for-a-controlling-father-figure aspirants.
I know I have mentioned this before, but I still cannot get over my realization of what a control freak he is. I went to this event to decide if I was staying or going, knowing that I would probably go, but wanting to see if any of the old spark was left...that Intro to the Keys drove me right out the door...and that cigarette tasted so good!
