Date: Tues, Oct 20, 1998 at 20:40:44 (EDT) From: JW Email: None To: Everyone Subject: Requirements for Knowledge Message: I was just looking at Maharaji's 'Instructors Manual' that's on this website and I thought the section on 'The True Qualifications for an Aspirant', which is the section that says what an aspirant has to believe BEFORE being allowed to receive knowledge, was very interesting. It completely defies all the 'try it you'll like it' bullshit being espoused by premies here and over at enjoyinglife.
It's still clear that no one gets knowledge unless they believe, and say, that they are devoting themselves to Maharaji and that they consider Maharaji 'above all' in their lives. So much for freely giving knowledge and letting it evolve, which is the bullshit he says to people in introductory videos. The megalomaniac guru still requires that HE is the centerpiece in it all, even if we ever doubted that.
Half of the 'qualifications' relate to how the aspirant sees Maharaji, and they get progressively intense, more demanding and cult-like, as they progress.
An instructor isn't supposed to select someone for knowledge unless he or she is sure the aspirant will:
1. Have the necessary reverence and understanding about the teacher; [Maharaji must be 'revered.']
2. Have the commitment toward the teacher; [You must be COMMITTED to Maharaji, not just to the practice or the experience.]
3. Have the openess to evolve with the directions of the teacher; [You have to be able shut off your thinking process to live with the contradictions and whims of Maharaji. This comes in handy for Maharaji in disavowing his past, and is equivalent to his 'don't doubt' commandment from earlier years.]
4. Be concerned about his or her relationship to the teacher; [Huh? What is this concern business? Is this the preoccupation with Maharaji that premies have and that he thrives on? What the hell does this mean other than that, but wait, the final qualification makes all of that clear]
5. PLACE THE TEACHER, AND HIS GUIDANCE IN THE KNOWLEDGE PROCESS, ABOVE ALL.
Well, that about says it. It's not his GUIDANCE that is alone paramount, or even the experience, which isn't even mentioned, but HIM that is paramount. It is ABOVE ALL -- above yourself, your experience, your life, etc. This is undoubtedly helpful in keeping one's financial priorities in place as well, all to the benefit of the guru's luxurious lifestyle.
It might be a little more slick than requiring that prayer [Oh, my Guru Maharaj Ji, I dedicate my life to you, etc.], that was required in my knowledge session, but no one is going to get knowledge unless they come to the same point. So much for the new and improved Maharaji. Return to Index -:- Top of Index
